Valent U.S.A. Pres/COO Trevor Thorley is promoted to Exec Officer of its parent com- pany Sumitomo Chemical Company, Ltd. Thorley will continue his roles at Valent, while remaining Gen’l Mgr for the Region Americas crop protec- tion business for Sumitomo in N.A. and Latin America. The company acquires certain Thorley assets of Green Light Company, San Antonio, TX, a consumer lawn and garden business marking its entry into the consumer lawn and garden market. Cheminova moves the headquarters for its ANZAC Region and the head- quarters for Cheminova, Inc. to One Park Drive, Research Triangle Park, NC. It had been located in Wayne, NJ. New members of the Cheminova Management team include Brent Crossland, who will be the com- pany’s Mktg/Portfolio Mgr. Stephen Briggs is the company’s new Nat’l Sls Mgr. Brad Chalk is the new Non-crop Bus Mgr. Lisa Safarian is named Pres/Gen’l Mgr of Monsanto Canada. She had been Reg’l Bus Dir for the company’s North/Central region. She replaces Sean Gardner who relocates to the company’s head- quarters to head Monsanto’s global chemistry business. Cory McArthur is named Mktg Dir for canola and crop protection, replac- ing Norm Sissons who is appointed Global Product Mgr for Monsanto’s Seminis vegetable business. McArthur was Mgr of Monsanto’s chemistry business in Western and Eastern Canada. Jennifer Bailes replaces McArthur as Chems Business Mgr. She was Chems Mktg Assoc and pre- viously Canola Seed Prod Mgr for Agricore United’s Proven Seed. Neil Arbuckle is named Canola Bus Development Lead, implement- ing the commercial launch plan for Roundup Ready 2 Yield canola. 10 AgriMarketing ¦ September 2008 Cornie Thiessen replaces Arbuckle as DEKALB Bus Mgr for Western Canada. Select Sires names Lyle Kruse VP/U.S. Mkt Development. He will be working with Select’s ten member co-ops to design growth and devel- opment strategies. Chris Sigurdson replaces Kruse. Sigurdson was one of Select Sires’ first interns and was most recently with Trans Ova Genetics. BASF Crop Protection plans to invest more than $225 million in additional capacity to meet the growing demand for key crop pro- tection products in the coming years. The two-year expansion project will increase capacity at production facili- ties in Germany, France, Brazil and the U.S. Darren Zink is named Strategic Acc’ts Mgr for Brock Grain Systems. He will work with grain com- panies, ethanol producers and national design and construction firms to market Brock’s full line of grain equipment. Zink Wyffels Hybrids promotes Matt Barnard to Recruitment and Skill Development Mgr. He will manage the recruitment of team members for the Wyffels sales and marketing force, as well as organizing the on- boarding training programs. He has worked for Dow AgroSciences. Becker Underwood announces expan- sion in the production capacity of its St. Joseph, MO, facility to meet the increasing demand for inoculants for soybeans, peanuts, peas and lentils grown in North America. The project will nearly triple the plants’ capacity. GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft, parent company of GEA WestfaliaSurge, acquires Norbco, Inc., Westmoreland, NY. Norbco has been the sole and exclusive supplier of conventional heavy- and medium-duty milking parlor stalls to GEAWestfaliaSurge. It also manufacturers and distribu- tors ventilation equipment, cow mat- tresses, barn curtains, barn cleaners and free stalls. Greenleaf Genetics names Dr. Dana Eaton, as Head of Prod- uct Dev. He will be responsible for identifying and sourcing new genetic and trait materials, managing prod- uct introgression and creating cutomer offers. Eaton He has worked for NC+ Hybrids, DEKALB and Asgrow. Cody Swam joins Kemin AgriFoods North America as Product Mgr, responsible for the marketing strat- egy of KemTRACE brand Organic Trace Minerals. He had been with John Morrell & Co. GfK and dmrkynetec form a joint venture merging GfK’s animal health businesses in France and the U.K. into dmrkynetec. GfK takes a minority share position in dmrkynetec. GfK’s U.K. business will be relo- cated to dmrkynetec’s existing offices in Berkshire, England. The JV also includes GfK’s custom agricul- tural and animal health research activity in Germany, an animal health client service and support office in Ireland, and an agreement to jointly develop and market compan- ion animal health information in the U.S. Doosan Infracore International moves into its new global headquar- ters in Charlotte, NC. Doosan Infracore Int’l was estab- lished following the $4.9 billion acquisition of Bobcat, Utility Equipment and Attachment from Ingersoll-Rand Company, Ltd. Bunge North America creates a business unit to distribute and mar- ket fertilizer products (NP&K). Bunge will source the commodities domestically and internationally
