ASSOCIATION NEWS Nat’l FFA Organization Board of Dirs and Nat’l FFA Foundation Board of Trustees approve a new consolidated management structure unifying both organizations’ executive mgmt through a joint governance committee of the two boards with a common CEO and CFO. Dr. W. Dwight Armstrong, Dr. Armstrong currently Nat’l FFA Organization CEO, is named as the common CEO for the new mgmt structure. The Distillers Grains Technology Council names Kurt Rosentrater as its Exec Dir and CEO. Rosentrater is an Ass’t Professor of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering at Iowa State Universitywhere he will continue to teach and conduct research. Daily Updates on www.AgriMarketing.com The 25x’25 Alliance restructures its leadership team to devote more effort in defining and articulating the multiple benefits of a 25x’25 future. Co-chmn of the new Exec Leadership Committee are Read Smith, a WA grain farmer and former Pres of the Nat’l Assn of Conservation Districts, and Bart Ruth, a NE corn and soybean farmer who is a former Pres of the American Soybean Assn. The 25x’25 Vision calls for America’s farms, ranches and forestlands to produce the biomass, biofuels, wind energy, solar power, geothermal energy and hydropower sufficient to meet at least 25% of the nation’s energy needs by the year 2025, all while providing an ample, affordable and safe supply of food, feed and fiber. AM National Farm-City Council, including management of the annual Charles Eastin Outstanding Service Award and stewardship of the Farm-City trademark. The annual Farm-City Symposium will be worked into the elements of ACA’s National Ag Day program being held March 25 in Washington, DC. World Food Prize Foundation names Mashal Husain as VP. She had been the organization’s Dir of Development and Finance. The Biopesticide Industry Alliance (BPIA) elects Rick Melnick of Valent BioSciences Corp as its new Board Chmn and Dir. He succeeds Eda Reinot of BASF Corporation, who served as chair since 2009. Nina Wilson of Gowan Corporation is also elected to serve on the BPIA board. In a survey conducted among its farmer-members, the Iowa Soybean Assn reports they ranked the following four as affecting their continued success: • Weed, insect and disease research; • Growth of domestic livestock production; • Favorable consumer trust in farming, and • International market growth for soybeans. The Agriculture Council of America (ACA) Foundation assumes the assets and selected programs of the 14 Agri Marketing s January/February 2014 The alliance is currently working on a new “Global Impact Statement” illustrating the impact of agriculture equipment manufacturing on the global economy, as well as its essential role in helping to feed the world. Japan joins the alliance as the 12th member of this global coalition. American Soybean Assn’sDuPont Young Leaders program completes its 30th class. Soybean growers from 22 states and Canada participated in training which included a communications workshop, DiSC workplace assessment, soybean issues panel discussion and soybean pipeline update. Husain American Farm Bureau announces a new consumer outreach program: Our Food Link. Up to seven, $700 grants are available for county and state Farm Bureaus to initiate Our Food Link projects. Suggested Our Food Link activities range from outreach at supermarkets or farmers’ markets to hosting interactive booths at community events, speaking with lawmakers and neighbors about food and visiting classrooms to help students understand agricultural topics. Ryan Lamke joins Growth Energy as its Comms Mgr.
