AT CLOSING NEWS The Daily Meal web site has published a list of the “50 Most Powerful People in Food.” Agriculture Sec’y Tom Vilsack tops the list. Monsanto Pres/CEO, Hugh Grant, is number two. Other familiar names in agriculture include ADM CEO, Patricia Woertz, at number seven; Cargill CEO, David MacLennan, at number ten. First Lady Michelle Obama is number 22. FMC Agricultural Solutions promotes Rick Ekins to Portfolio Mgr for Fungicides and Insecticides. He had been a Sr Product Mgr. Thierry Krier, Pres/CEO of Kuhn North America, becomes Pres of the Kuhn Group effective October 1, 2014. He succeeds Michel Siebert who is retiring. Greg Petras succeeds Krier as Krier Pres/CEO, Kuhn North America. He currently serves as Dir of Ops of Kuhn North America and Pres of Kuhn Krause. Headquartered in France, the company currently employs 4,500 people and operates nine production sites in Europe and North and South America, as well as 11 marketing and distribution companies on five continents. In 2012, the Kuhn Group had revenues exceeding $1.3 billion. The company employs over 1,000 In 2013, Agri Marketing’s Ag Stock Index finished the year up 22%. That compares to the Dow Jones Industrials up 28%; S&P 500 up 30% and NASDAQ up 35%. The year’s five top Ag Stock Index gainers were The Anderson’s (+113%); ADM(+64%); MWI Veterinary Supply (+60%); Bayer (+53%) and DuPont (+49%). Since its inception on Jan. 1, 2007, the Agri Marketing Ag Stock Index has gained 151%. That compares to the Dow’s gain of 29%; the S&P 500’s gain of 28% and NASDAQ’s gain of 72%. Long term, the five largest gainers are: CF Industries (+350%); FMC (+281%); MWI Veterinary Supply (+237%); Agrium (+182%) and The Andersons (+179%). The Agri MarketingAg Stock Index is comprised of shares from 40 publicly traded companies who have significant agricultural operations. AM people in the U.S. and operates factories in Brodhead, WI, and Hutchinson, KS. Makhteshim Agan Industries transitions to a new global brand, “ADAMA,” beginning in April 2014. The name comes from the Hebrew word for “earth” or “soil” and reflects the company’s farmercentric focus and its commitment to agriculture around the world. Titan International, Inc. promotes Paul Reitz to Pres. He had been CFO. John Hrudicka succeeds Reitz as CFO. He had been with Elkay Manufacturing and has been with Motorola, 3Com and Baxter Healthcare. Arjun Mirdha is named Pres/CEO of JCB in North America. He succeeds John Patterson who is retiring. Michel Denis is named Pres/CEO of the Manitou Group. He had been CEO of the Fraikin Group, Europe’s leader in truck rentals. The New Hampshire House of Representatives votes to deny a bill that would have required foods containing genetically modified organisms (GMO) to be labeled throughout the state. The Board of Trustees of the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center elects John F. McDonnell to succeed William H. Danforth, M.D., as Chmn, and added three St. Louis leaders as new trustees. Danforth receives the designation of Founding Chairman. McDonnell retired as Chairman of the McDonnell Douglas Corp in 1997, and as a Director of Boeing Company in 2012. McDonnell
