36 AgriMarketing ¦ June 2008 CELEBRATING THE BEST OF CANADIAN AGRI-MARKETING IN QUÉBEC CITY For the first time ever, the Québec chapter of CAMA will host the Best of CAMA awards ceremony. The event will be held on November 6, 2008 at Hotel Loews Le Concorde in Quebec City. French confer- ences will occur during the afternoon on November 6 while English conferences will be held in the morning of November 7. A city tour will also be offered during the afternoon of November 7 for those interested in taking in the great sites of Quebec City during its 400th anniversary. CERTIFICATE IN AGRIMARKETING During the Best of CAMA week the first course of the Certificate in Agri- Marketing program will also be offered November 4–7. This first course, entitled “Marketing to Farm Businesses (MFB),” is an introduc- tory marketing course, which focuses on key concepts related to marketing products and services to farm customers, or businesses that sell to farmers. On April 16th, the Québec chapter of CAMA invited a panel of three farm- ers and one advertising expert to evaluate agriculture ads published in Québec. Many of the CAMA atten- dees for this event had produced their own ads in-house and appreci- ated the opportunity to receive direct farmer feedback. In terms of the findings, the most common comment was the need to keep things simple. This included the use of less text, a specific call to action (phone number most favored) and a clean design that is easy to read and understand. Regarding Internet, farmers asked not to forget that many of them still connect over phone lines, so having a Web site that downloads quickly should be a top priority.
