Farm Progress and Dave have worked together on dozens of pro- jects; however, one grand-scale project is most notable. Monsanto’s Technology Showcase at the 2006 Farm Progress Show was a landmark event that involved his leadership, cre- ativity, vision and drive to bring the project successfully to fruition. He demonstrated the central characteristics this award celebrates. Leadership — Monsanto’s Tech- nology Showcase was developed and executed in a very short period of time. His deep commitment and motivating leadership took the pro- ject from idea-stage in March 2006 to completion in August for the 2006 Farm Progress Show. A venture of this magnitude cannot occur without great leadership. Dave’s interaction with the team of Monsanto staffers, show personnel and others was inspiring. Creativity — The Monsanto Technology Showcase completely changed how the industry views trade shows. The idea of presenting early-stage crop genetics to farmer- visitors at a trade show was revolu- tionary. Visionary — Monsanto’s exhibit at the 2007 Farm Progress Show in Decatur, IL, demonstrated the second generation of the Technology Show- case idea with evolved and improved staging. Dave’s initial vision will con- tinue to provide Monsanto with a developmental platform for unlim- ited future exhibition creativity.
