Monsanto completes the purchase of substantially all of the assets, and assumption of certain liabilities of Rosetta Green Ltd., Rehovot, Israel. Rosetta Green, formed in 2010, develops improved plant traits for agriculture using RNA technology. Its experts specialize in the identification and use of unique genes to guide key processes in major crops including corn, soybeans and cotton. The company's Israel operations will remain intact and all Rosetta Green employees have accepted roles with Monsanto. ConAgra Foods, Cargill and CHS combine their North American flour milling businesses, forming Ardent Mills, an independent joint venture of the three parent companies. The formation of Ardent Mills and the location of its headquarters is expected to be completed late in 2013. Ric Sundal joins Moark LLC, Neosho, MO, as COO, succeeding Craig Willardson who is retiring. The company markets, distributes, processes and produces fresh shell eggs and egg products. He has been with Purina Animal Nutrition, Land O' Lakes, Ergotron and Best Brands. Russell Sides is named VP, Sls & Mktg at Tessenderlo Kerley. He succeeds Ron Johnson who is retiring. Rick Letterman is named VP, Product Develpmnt. Rotam CropSciences announces changes in senior mgmt. CEO James Bristow takes on added responsibility as Int'l CEO, encompassing the Chinese market. Annie Yang is promoted to Sr VP, Global Human Resources. Jean Michel Duhamel becomes CMO with responsibilities for nine world regions, business development, sls and marketing. Mark Lu continues as Rotam's Chmn. Dr. Sean P. O'Connor joins bio-technology company Nucelis, San Diego, CA, as Pres/CEO. He has been Pres of Chemtura Corporation Petroleum Additives and British Petroleum. Shirley Cunningham joins CHS Inc. as Exec VP, Enterprise Strategy. She had been with Monsanto. Mark Kreps is named VP, Sls --- Agriculture for RDO Equipment Co. In addition, he will continue his leadership over the Core Accounts team, which works with large customers in RDO's agricultural regions. Horizon Ag-Products, Modesto, CA, launches new corporate identity and product branding, highlighting the company's experience in the biostimulant industry. Horizon's products are used with soil and AT CLOSING NEWS International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-Biotech Applications's February 2013 report identifies ways biotech crops have mitigated and adapted to climate change, and conserved land: • 1.9 billion kilograms of reduced carbon dioxide emissions in 2011. • 21.1 billion kilograms of carbon sequestered. • 473 million kilogram reduction in pesticides applied from 1996 to 2011. • 8.5% overall reduction in pesticide application in 2011. • 108.7 million hectares of biodiverse land preserved between 1996 and 2011. • 328 million tons of additional food, feed and fiber produced.
