Pfizer Animal Health acquires two market-leading livestock genomics companies: • Catapult Genetics, Pty., Ltd., focused on developing and com- mercializing innovative livestock DNA tests and gene markers to assist global food producers, processors and retailers in improv- ing profitability and quality in the global food chain; and • Bovigen, LLC, which markets DNA technology, including Catapult's products in the U.S. and throughout Canada, Central America and South America. "This is a strategic initiative that places Pfizer at the forefront of livestock gene marker R&D and enhances Pfizer 's ability to offer more complete solutions to global livestock producers," says Pfizer Animal Health Pres. Juan Ramon Alaix. Monsanto acquires EarthMap Solutions, Longmont, CO. Utilizing satellite imagery and aerial photog- raphy, the company creates color- coded maps showing crop and for- est conditions by measuring chloro- phyll content and plant health. Montana Tractors, Springdale, AR, announces it will provide parts/ service through its network for all LS tractors sold through the Farmtrac network, as long as the dealer is an existing Montana Dealer or becomes a Montana Dealer in the future. Farmtrac, Tarboro, NC, recently went into receivership. In addition, the company announces it will be adding five account/territory managers, three customer service representatives, two field service representatives, one director of dealer development, and the position of assistant vice president of sales and marketing. Roger Kretchmer is named Montana's new VP Sls and Mktg. He had been with Husqvarna. MANA promotes Brian Ahrens to northern Reg'l Sls Mgr and he will re- locate to eastern Iowa. He has previ- ously been with Bayer CropScience and BASF. John Guion, will take over as MANA's Sr Product Mktg Mgr for insecticides, the position Ahrens has held since 2005. He had previously been with Agriliance and Terra Industries. Advanced Ag Solutions (AAS), Lafayette, IN, acquires the Crop Pro-Tech's (CPT) customer list that was serviced by independent crop consultant Dave Harms. AAS Pres and founder Darly Starr says he looks to build on the years of work performed by CPT and help professional farmers grow their busi- ness. AAS has three divisions: includ- ing Integrated Crop Mgt., Farm Risk Mgt and Crop Research. Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica announces Joe Richtsmeier is assigned to its recently created Nat'l Distribution position for its Food Animal Business segment. He most recently was with IVESCO and previously with Alpharma. Novus International, Inc., announces Dr. Scott C. Fleetwood joins the company as Exec Dir, Markets and Products. Fleetwood will have overall responsibility for the marketing of the swine, poul- try, ruminant, industrial and feed quality business units of Novus. Fleetwood had been with EMD Crop BioScience. Previously, he has been with Bayer Crop Science, FMC and American Cyanamid.
