January/February 2013 Agri Marketing 13 Farm Journal Media (FJM) acquires majority interest in Commodity Update, Stillwater, MN, a mobile media company serving agriculture. Joel Jaeger, who founded the company in 2006, will continue to serve as CEO of Commodity Update, maintain a significant stake in the enterprise and join Farm Journal's Executive Leadership Team. Commodity Update currently serves more than 75,000 subscribers, who receive up to three separate information products and more than three messages each day as part of an individually personalized subscription package. FJM acquired a minority stake in the company two years ago. Meredith Corporation and Edwin T. Meredith Foundations honor Success- ful Farming Editor- in-Chief Loren Kruse (now retired) with a $25,000 donation to the Iowa 4-H Foundation. The donation establishes an endow- ment honoring outstanding 4-H vol- unteers for their leadership. Vance Publishing announces changes in its Protein Division: VP & Publishing Dir, Shawn Etheridge, adds the protein brands to his responsibility. Rick Patton is named Bus Development Exec - Production Agriculture. He has been with Doane, BASF and American Cyanamid. Tom Hudson joins as Bus Development Mgr. He had been with AgCall and has been with Successful Farming and Nationwide Agribusiness. Shonda Anderson Atwater joins as Mkt Ops Mgr. She has been with Nat'l Beef Packing Co., Certified Hereford Beef and Kansas State University. JoAnn Alumbaugh joins the company as Editor and Brand Champion of PorkNetwork, formerly known as Pork magazine. She has been with Morgan & Myers, Farm Progress Publications, Farms.com and Alumbaugh Communications. Rodney Miller, Creator and Host of RFD-TVs "Small Town Big Deal" welcomes Jann Carl as his new Co-host of the Rural Lifestyle Show.
