AM Daily Updates on www.AgriMarketing.com FYI NEWS & NOTES FARMERS FEEDING THE WORLD FMC Agricultural Products Group announces Lexi Sistrunk from Oak Grove, LA, is the grand prize winner in the "Stand & Be Heard Anthem Contest." She will receive the grand prize of a $10,000 college scholarship. More than 170 entries were received from agricultural students representing 34 states. The four finalists, chosen by voting, traveled to Nashville, TN, to re-record their renditions of the National Anthem with a music producer as well as talk about their experiences in the FMC Anthem Contest. FMC'S NATIONAL ANTHEM CONTEST The Farm Journal Foundation hosted a breakfast in conjunction with last October 's World Food Prize held in Des Moines, IA. At the event, the Cedar Key, FL, FFA chapter was cited for its project which supplied its community food pantry with the fish, pork and vegetables it raised. Buffett Foundation and FFA provided 140 grants to help the chapters develop and conduct their projects. AG SECRETARIES PANEL At last month's Nat'l Assn of Farm Broadcasting's (NAFB) annual convention, a panel of former agriculture secretaries shared their comments about the past, present and future of the USDA and farm policy. Shown (l to r) Mark Oppold, RFD-TV/RURAL TV and NAFB President-Elect who moderated the panel, Robert Berglund who served for Pres Carter 1977-1981, John Block who served for Pres Reagan 1981-1986 and Clayton Yeutter who served for Pres George H.W. Bush 1989-1991. The panel was held the day after the nation's election and each had informative insights about their expectations. Sec'y Clayton said it was his hope both parties would start working together for the best interests of the country.
