AM Daily Updates on www.AgriMarketing.com FYI NEWS & NOTES CROPLIFE AMERICA REACHES OUT Participants from the U.S. Soybean Export Council, American Soybean Assn, United Soybean Board, and others gather for soy purchasing signing ceremonies with dignitaries and agricultural leaders from China at the World Food Prize in Des Moines, IA. Chinese dignitaries announced the purchase of more than $6 billion worth of U.S . soybeans. Last marketing year, China purchased 895 million bushels of soybeans, nearly 60% of U.S. soybean exports. CHINESE DELEGATION, SOYBEAN INDUSTRY MEET CropLife America (CLA) has been engaging with a number of new and non-traditional partners in 2012. The CLA Strategic Oversight Council recently held an open dialogue with the Natural Resources Defense Council in Washington, DC, with particular emphasis on the commitment that both CLA and NRDC share — the passage of the reauthorization of the Pesticide Registration Improvement Act (PRIA 3) this year. Similarly, CLA has recruited new participants for their 2012 National Policy Conference, taking place May 16. Speakers at this year ’s conference will include representatives from the Environmental Working Group, the Environmental Defense Fund and the Cato Institute. U.S. FARMERS & RANCHERS ALLIANCE The U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance (USFRA), in cooperation with Agri-Pulse Communications, hosted “The Future of Food and Farming,” an Agricultural Day Dialogue on Capitol Hill. Organizers report the event was very effective in creating a visible presence for USFRA on Capitol Hill, bringing attention among policymakers as well as initiating relationships with key influencers outside the agricultural community. Over 300 key influencers attended the event and more than 1,000 individuals viewed the Ag Day Dialogue live online.
