8 Agri Marketing January/February 2012 Monsanto receives deregulation from the USDA for the company's first-generation drought-tolerant trait for corn. For the 2012 trials, Monsanto plans to have Genuity VT Triple PRO and Genuity VT Double PRO technology serve as the agronomic trait platform to be used with the drought-tolerant trait. Giovanni Affaba is named CEO and Chmn of the Board for SipcamAdvan. Based in Milan, Italy, Affaba also serves as the Managing Dir for parent company, Sipcam-Oxon Group. Adam Burnhams and Andrew Bodane are appointed as joint COO's for the company. Pat McCord joins Monsanto business unit Fielder's Choice Direct as Marketing Mgr. He has worked for the Iowa Corn Growers Assn/Iowa Corn Promotion Board, Asgrow and Elanco. Land O'Lakes, Inc. announces changes to its Executive Leadership Team: Jim Fife is named Exec VP and Group Exec of Ag Businesses. Jerry Kaminski is named Exec VP and Group Exec of the combined Dairy Foods Business. Carol Kitchen also joins the Dairy Foods leadership team as Sr VP, Global Ingredients. Steve Dunphy is named Exec VP, Growth Projects. Peter Janzen, General Counsel and Sr VP, International Development Div, assumes an expanded role with responsibility for Communications, Community Relations, Government Affairs, Member Relations and Security. Barry Wolfish is named CMO and Sr VP, Corporate Strategy. An arbitration panel rules in favor of DuPont in a dispute filed by Monsanto in 2009. Monsanto alleged that DuPont business Pioneer Hi-Bred's PROaccess genetics distribution relationships breached Pioneer 's Roundup Ready corn and soybean licenses with Monsanto. The arbitrators' ruling denied Monsanto's claims for damages and for injunctive relief. Subsequently, Monsanto is suing seed companies acquired by Dupont which were part of the PROaccess group, including Agventure, Doebler 's, Hoegemeyer Hybrids, Nutech Seed, Seed Consultants and Terral Seed. Monsanto claims they failed to pay fees for using Roundup Ready corn and soybean seeds. FMC acquires two fungicides from Bayer CropScience: Rovral and Sportak brand families for world- wide agricultural uses outside Europe. Elanco acquires ChemGen Corp., Gaithersburg, MD, a privately held bioscience company specializing in the development and commercialization of feed enzyme products that improve the efficiency of poultry, egg, and meat production. Elanco Pres Jeff Simmons says, "This acquisition allows Elanco to leverage our expertise in developing trusted, science-based solutions into the enzyme space, which is an emerging field with significant growth potential." The company releases a video examining the growing problem of world hunger and what matters most to consumers around the world when they purchase food, and the solutions that technology can provide. The company also separates its Grain and Ethanol operations into individual business units: Dennis J. Addis is named Pres of the Grain Group. He served as Pres of the Plant Nutrients Group and is currently on The Fertilizer Institute Board of Directors and Exec Committee. Neill C. McKinstray is named Pres of the Ethanol Group. He was VP and General Mgr, Ethanol Division and currently serves as Vice-Chairman of the Renewable Fuels Assn. William J. Wolf is appointed Pres of the Plant Nutrients Group. He was VP of Supply and Merchandising, Plant Nutrients Group. Syngenta names its next-generation corn rootworm trait Agrisure Duracade. The proprietary technology features a mode of action against corn rootworm that is different from the company's existing Agrisure RW trait.
