The Broadband Alliance for Agri- culture, www.broadbandalliance.org, a non-profit orga- nization with the mission of pro- moting high- speed Internet access to rural America, announces the appointment of Robert Paarlberg as its Exec Dir. Paarlberg was formerly with Royster-Clark, IMC Agribusiness and Vigoro Industries. The Assoc of Equipment Mfgrs names Anne Forristall Luke to the newly created position of VP Gov't Affairs in its Washington, D.C. office. Luke was Pres of the U.S. Tuna Foundation and has been with MGN Inc., Ketchum and government posts. The National Cattlemen's Founda- tion and Fort Dodge Animal Health announce a new scholarship program awarding three $5,000 scholarships each to veterinary school students that have designated an emphasis in beef production and two for under- graduate students enrolled in an ani- mal science program. The National Biodiesel Board hires Manning Feraci as VP of Federal Affairs. He most recently served as the Chief of Staff to Congressman Kenny Hulshof (R-MO), and has more than 14 years of experience working for members of the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee. The assoc also adds Larry Schafer of Diamond Group, LLC, to its legislative and regulatory team as Sr Adviser. Schafer previously worked for both the Renewable Fuels Association and the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives. The Irrigation Assoc names Brent Mecham Industry Dev Dir, where he will lead its Education Foundation and guide the effort to streamline curriculum development. He had been with the Colorado Water Conservancy District. Chris Anderson is named VP of Crop Production at the Canola Council of Canada, Winnipeg, MB. He replaces JoAnne Buth who was recently pro- moted to Pres of the council. He has worked for Monsanto Canada and Advanta. Jacqueline Taylor joins the National Corn Growers Assoc's Washington, D.C., office as Comms Special- ist. As a member of the NCGA Marketing team, she is responsible for media relations and marketing communications. She had been with Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide and has served in the Republican National Committee's Comms Office. Monsanto pledges more than $60,000 over three years to support the National Agricultural Leadership Conference (NALC), an annual event for collegiate agricultural students hosted by Alpha Zeta to be held March 27-29, 2008 in Columbus, OH. National FFA Exec Secy C. Coleman Harris an- nounces his retirement from the U. S. Dep't of Education in Washington, D.C. He had served is the posi- tion for 30 years and has logged more than 45 years of service to agri- cultural education and FFA. Drake & Co celebrates its 15th anniversary in September by open- ing a West Coast office based in Phoenix, AZ, and by hosting 15 Air Force enlisted personnel from Scott Air Force Base during the St. Louis Cardinals game September 6.
