Those negotiations continue. Becker Underwood names Stephanie Zumbach as North American Prod Mgr --- seed enchancement group. She most recently was Customer Svs Rep for the company and has worked for Syngenta Seeds. Charlie Hale joins as Interna- tional Prod Mgr for the group. He most recently had been with Bayer CropScience and has also worked for Pioneer Hi-Bred, Mycogen Seeds and a Des Moines, IA, com- munications agency. Farm Credit Services (FCS) of Mid- America, Louisville, KY, promotes Tom Schlenker to Exec VP-Financial Svs. His responsibilities include pro- viding leadership to strategic plan- ning and organizing and directing of the business development, sales and marketing functions for the associa- tion's four-state territory. Dick Poe assumes Schlenker 's former position as Sr VP-Financial Svs and will oversee management and sales of over 40 FCS offices throughout Ohio and Indiana. Destron Fearing announces Clark Weaver joins the company to lead its sales team as Dir of Livestock Sls. He was VP/Mktg for Webster Veterinary Supply, Inc. The nation's second and third largest crop input retailers, Helena and Agrium, form a buying group to acquire crop protection products for their estimated 700+ retail outlets throughout North America. In the Midwest, Agrium's retail- ing unit operates under the name of Crop Production Services, in the western U.S. under the name of West- ern Farm Service. Two years ago, Agrium acquired Royster-Clark's crop input retail business unit. Landowner newsletter, a Farm Journal Media publication reports: If you were wondering if the sum- mer sell-off in corn prices dampened farmers' interest in buying quality farmland, here's your answer --- $8,425 an acre paid for 80 acres in eastern Sioux County, IA. And, that wasn't an isolated case. Another 60 acres brought in $8,300 an acre at the same auction. AutoFarm and Raven Industries expand their collaborative agree- ment for product development opportunities following the success- ful launch of the new Raven steering system, QuickTrax. The collaborative team is finish- ing development and test of a new system which will provide full-fea- tured sub-inch accurate RTK auto- mated steering designed by Auto- Farm and state-of-the-art displays and controls such as Viper Pro and Envizio Pro by Raven Industries. Specialty Fertilizer Products (SFP) promotes John Hardy to Exec VP and Jake Sanders to VP. Formerly the VP/Admin, Hardy is cofounder and legal counsel for SFP. Sanders was SFP's Int'l Sls Coor- dinator and Mktg Mgr. Syngenta receives full regulatory approval in Japan for Agrisure RW, its corn rootworm insect control corn seed. Agrisure RW now has full approval in the U.S., Canada, and Japan, and import approval in Aus- tralia and New Zealand. In 2008, Agrisure RW will be part of the seed industry's Market Choices grain direction program. (more on page 15) Schlenker Poe Garst, Golden Harvest and NK are each restructuring their sales teams and moving its commercial headquarters, marketing, product management and operations into a centralized infrastructure, located in the Minneapolis, MN area.The Syngenta seed supply and product development organizations associated with its Slater, IA, and Waterloo, NE, sites will continue expan- sion of its new corn hybrids and Agrisure traits. Garst, Golden Harvest and NK will continue to have their own sales teams and brand names. David Witherspoon assumes leadership of the expanding Syngenta Renewable Fuels business. Pedro Rugeroni now heads Garst. Rob Robin- son assumes a senior role in supporting the transformation of the commer- cial business. Kevin Kimm now heads Golden Harvest. David Elser contin- ues as head of NK. As part of the transformation, Syngenta is creating a new Bus Develop- ment group, headed by Ioana Tudor, which will develop initiatives for long-term growth, including acquisitions, licensing of new technologies, next-generation biofuels and new feed products. It also announces several new marketing and communications appoint- ments including: Ryan Klaveano is appointed Head of Brand Mktg. Lorenzo Bassi becomes Head of Strategy and Analytics. Chuck Lee is Head of Corn Product Line Management. Gene Kassmeyer is Head of Prod Line Mgmt for Soybeans and Misc Field Crops. Pam Molitor, previously Dir of PR and Comms for the Iowa Soybean Assoc, joins as Strategic Projects Comms Mgr. Lori Thomas is named Brand Advertising and Comms Mgr. Jill Wenzel, previously with the AdCulture Group, joins the company as Comms Mgr for Agrisure Corn Traits. Linda Leydens, previously with the Integer Group, is hired as Sr Comms Specialist.
