He was the owner of Four M Land Company, LLC, and prior worked for RE/MAX Suburban Realty and is the current national Pres of the Realtors Land Institute. CEVA Sante Animale breaks ground on a new poultry vaccine production plant for its U.S . subsidiary, CEVA Biomune, Lenexa, KS. The new poultry vaccine operation is expected to create an estimated 80 new jobs. The Westchester Group (WG) names Roderick (Rory) Robertson as Executive VP. He will head up WG’s new office opening in Fresno, CA, with responsibility for the western U.S . Robertson’s background is in agricultural real estate investment and management. Pioneer Hi-Bred and Asoyia, Inc., expand their agreement to make Pio- neer brand 1% ultra low linolenic soybean varieties with the Roundup Ready trait eligible for participation in the Asoyia Identity Preserved soybean program. The agreement will serve a broader geography of growers and offer more soybean varieties for the 2010 growing season paying a 0$.55 premium to producers. Advanced Animal Diagnostics names Joy Parr Drach as Pres. She was with Entira. Rudy Rodriguez, founder and a member of the board of directors, remains as Chief Scientific Officer. The company develops and mar- kets rapid animal diagnostic tests for the farm. Dr. Leif Kjaergaard, a veteran life and food science executive, joins AgriCapital Advisors. He was with Danisco A/S, and now serves as Pres of LEIF and Food Science, and is a Sr Advisor in research policy for the EU commission and the Danish government. AgriThority LLC expands its busi- ness operations into Latin America with the addition of Gerardo Copello, an agronomist and agribusiness development specialist based in Campinas, Brazil. Most recently a self-employed agribusiness consultant, he has worked for Monsanto, FMC, Uniroyal, Safer and DuPont. GreenLeaf Genetics LLC adds Rodney Busick to the company’s Trait Sales staff. He was with Syngenta Seeds. AM IN MEMORIAM Dr. Norman Borlaug, 95, father of the “Green Revolution” dies at his home in Dallas, TX. Born on a farm near Cresco, IA, he received a Ph.D . from the University of Minnesota. From 1942 to 1944, he was a microbiologist for DuPont before organizing and directing the Cooperative Wheat Research and Production program in Mex- ico which was funded by the Mexican government and the Rockefeller Foundation. In the program, he successfully devel- oped high-yielding, short- strawed, disease resistant vari- eties that are credited with saving billions of lives from starvation. For his efforts, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal along with numerous awards from many countries.
