Agrimarketing : Career Supplement USA
2 September 2009 Welcome to the third annual Agribusiness Employer Guide from AgCareers.com and Agri Marketing magazine. If you are looking through this publication, we want to applaud you for taking a proactive approach to your career. The agriculture industry is a great place to work and holds many rewarding possibilities as you will see throughout the guide. We hope that your school year has gotten off to a great start and that you'll use the resources around you, including this guide, to learn more about the companies and job opportunities that await you. Remember it is never too early to start looking for an internship or your first full-time job. Career fair season will be here before you know and provides many excellent opportunities and venues to connect with potential employers. Again this year, we are happy to provide students across the United States with a source to help you evaluate and compare some of the top companies within agriculture and their job opportunities. We have included profiles from 20 agriculture and food companies, as well as nine educational articles/resources to help you prepare for your future. The Agribusiness Employer Guide was developed as a tool for students to use to become familiar with companies and careers offered in the agriculture and food industry. From the employer profiles you can learn about what the company does, a little about the company culture, what job opportunities they may have available, and how to connect with them. Along with the employer profiles, students will find a variety of articles to help you throughout your career search. A few of this year 's articles include, "Resume Writing 101," "Five Things that Could Prevent You From Getting a Job," and "Mastering the Complexities of Workplace Communication." If you are considering continuing your education, be sure to check out the universities that have requested to be listed in the guide that offer top programs in advanced education in an agriculture program. We are all well aware that many industries are struggling to offer employees and job candidates career opportunities due to the economic climate of our nation. However, agriculture is one of few industries that still holds promise for job seekers and college students, pursuing careers in agriculture and/or food. While we know that employers within agricultural companies are respectively being cautious, it is good to see that we continue to thrive as an industry as we work to fulfill the food and energy needs of a global community. It is a great time to be in agriculture! Finally, we would like to remind you that we also publish a Canadian edition of the Agribusiness Employer Guide and if you know someone who would like a copy or if you would like to receive an online copy of the U.S. Agribusiness Employer Guide, please look for the Employer Guide graphic under the "Suite of Products" on the AgCareers.com homepage or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. We wish you the best for the upcoming school year and throughout your job search! Sincerely, Eric Spell, President AgCareers.com Eric Spell AGRIBUSINESS EMPLOYER GUIDE
