Agrimarketing : Career Supplement Canada
2 September 2009 Welcome to the second annual Agribusiness Employer Guide from AgCareers.com and Agri Marketing magazine. The Canadian agricultural industry continues to be a great place to work, holding many rewarding possibilities. Despite challenges faced in the global economic crisis which has gripped much of the world over the past year, the Canadian economy has showed resilience, led in part by the food and resource sectors. This year 's guide offers many opportunities and confirms your choice for working in the agricultural sector. If you are looking through this publica- tion, I want to applaud you for taking a proactive approach to your career. The school year has now just started, however it is never too early to start considering internships, summer employment, or your first full-time position. We hope that you will use this guide to learn more about the opportunities that await you. Career fair season will be here before you know and provides an excellent time to connect with potential employers. Again this year, we are happy to provide students across Canada with a source to help you evaluate and compare some of the top companies within agriculture and their job opportunities. We have included profiles from 15 agricultural and food companies, as a resource to help you prepare for your future. The Agribusiness Employer Guide was developed as a tool for students to use to become familiar with companies and careers offered in the agriculture and food industry. From the employer profiles you can learn about what the company does, a little about the company culture, what job opportunities they may have available, and how to connect with them. Agriculture is one of a few industries that continues to hold promise for job seekers and for college students pursuing careers in agriculture and/or food. We have not seen much of a decline in hiring or even internship and summer work experience offerings. While we know that employers within agricultural companies are respectively being cautious, it is good to see that we continue to thrive as an industry as we work to fulfill the food and energy needs of a global community. It is a great time to be in agriculture! Finally, we would like to remind you that we also publish an American edition of the Agribusiness Employer Guide and if you know someone who would like a copy or if you would like to receive an online copy of the Canadian Agribusiness Employer Guide, please look for the Employer Guide graphic under the "Suite of Products" on the AgCareers.com homepage or e-mail email@example.com. We wish you the best for the upcoming school year and throughout your job search! Sincerely, Kathryn Doan, Business Development Manager, AgCareers.com Kathryn Doan AGRIBUSINESS EMPLOYER GUIDE
