The company’s CEO Hugh Grant says, “Over the last six years, Monsanto’s business has undergone a dramatic transition from a company historically built on chemical innovations to one focused on delivering enhanced seed offerings that help farmers get more out of each acre of farmland while reducing the footprint of the inputs used on that land. These actions will allow our company to better navigate in today’s changing business environment and keep the company on a clear path for growth.” BASF Crop Protection appoints Paul Rea to Dir, U.S. Crop Business. Prior to join- ing the company in 2001, he was with Graintrust Venture for Combined Rural Traders in Sydney, Australia. Rea Rain and Hail LLC will service Farm BureauMutual Insurance Company (FBMIC) crop insurance business beginning with the 2010 crop season. Rain and Hail will be the Managing Gen’l Agent for FBMIC policies written onWestern Agricultural Insurance Company paper, and will perform all aspects of servicing the multiple peril crop insurance, livestock, crop hail and specialty crop insurance products written by the FBMIC captive and independent agency forces. The agreements also resolve out- standing legal and patent disputes between the companies in the area of insect control and herbicide safeners. Tessenderlo Kerley, Inc. (TKI), Phoenix, AZ, acquires the global rights to linuron herbicide assets from DuPont, including its trade names, registrations and registration data. Brand names include Lorox and Linex. Marketing and development responsibility for the linuron product will be undertaken by TKI’s business unit, NovaSource. Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health creates two new positions to develop the company’s relationships within the food chain. Jennie Hodgen, Ph.D. joins as Technical Service Specialist,Meat Science. She was a food-safety consultant and teacher. Bob Giblin, joins asMgr, Food Industry Comms. He was with the WI Dept ofMilitary Affairs and prior worked for Charleston/Orwig andMorgan&Myers. Monsanto Company and Bayer CropScience (BC) announce a cross-licensing agreement for canola. Under the agreement,Monsanto grants BC access to it‘s Genuity Roundup Ready canola trait and BC grantsMonsanto access to its LibertyLink tolerance trait for use in canola. The agreement also includes specified rights to access, on a nonexclusive basis, future herbicide tolerance traits and other agronomic traits that may be introduced by either party for use in canola. Farm Business Communications (FBC) has appoints Kelly Dundas to the new position of DigitalMedia Specialist. He was with Top CropManager and previously has been with Dow AgroSciences and Syngenta Seeds. FBC adds to its online presence with the launch of www.AGCanada.com, a Canadian agriculture portal which features continually updated news, market King Henley Mycogen Seeds names Hank King as Sr Grain CornMktg Specialist. He was IL District SlsMgr. Rick Henley is appointed Corn ProductMgr. He has held positions with FS, Garst and Syngenta. NufarmAmericas Inc.makes amajor move into the growing seed treatment market. The company expects to have 15 seed treatment products available by the end of 2009. Christine Wietzki joins GreenLeaf Genetics as Stewardship and RegulatoryMgr. She was with E3 Biofuels and Trenton Agri Products. Wietzki Moore Communications launches a new photography web site for the agricultural community. The site, www.mooreagphotos.com, contains a keyword-searchable agricultural stock images available for immediate high-resolution download and purchase. The site also allows free low-resolution image download for mock-up use. Topcon Precision Agriculture (TPA) opens its North American headquarters in Olathe, KS. The facility, located at 16950W. 118th Terrace, will commentary and links to FBC’s existing websites for Country Guide, Grainews, Canadian Cattlemen, Manitoba Co-operator and Alberta Farmer Express.
