Agrimarketing : June 2015
FOR OPENERS MY TENTH ANNIVERSARY! Ten years ago, I was driving home from the Agricultural Media Summit when the thought hit me: I should buy Agri Marketing magazine and its related media assets. At the time, I was President/CEO of Doane Agricultural Services Co. which was being acquired by a major communications company whose media included a number of agriculturally-oriented magazines. They feared Agri Marketing would present a conflict of interest and didn’t know what to do with it. I approached them with an offer and in a few days I is published by: Henderson Communications L.L.C. P.O. Box 396 Adel, IA 50003 Phone: 515/954-8381 E-mail: email@example.com Publisher/Editorial Director (and my bank) were the proud owners of the magazine! A lot has both stayed the same and changed in those ten year. Delivering Lynn Henderson Publisher information electronically became much easier, smartphones arrived on the scene and the world became wireless. Especially the extremely busy and mobile Agri Marketing audience which is composed of corporate agribusiness managers, their ad/PR agencies, ag trade associations, the ag media and others in the agricultural industry. My first decision was to build out the electronic media side of Agri Marketing. I thought the combination of having a printed magazine plus electronically delivered media would make for very powerful partners. So over the years we beefed up www.AgriMarketing.com and introduced the Agri Marketing Weekly e-newletter, Agri Marketing Digital (magazine online), the Agri Marketing App and Agri Marketing Mobile Alerts (text messaging). Now, in addition to reaching an audience of 7,200 magazine subscribers, the combination of these electronic delivered media is reaching 55,000+ viewers/users each month! As it turned out, the electronics were a 53-year-old magazine’s best friend. I would like to thank you, the audience, our advertisers and sponsors, the National Agri-Marketing Assn (NAMA) — Agri Marketing is its official magazine), and our suppliers for all of your support over the years. And a special thank you to Audrey Evans who has been such a pleasure to work with over those ten years. What a fun ride it’s been … and continues to be!
