MEDIA NEWS Michigan Agriculture Information Network (MAIN) is launched with Pat Driscoll serving as Farm Dir. As part of a partnership package, Agro-Culture Liquid Fertilizer’s new LEED Gold-certified, world headquarters will be dedicating its broadcast facilities in central Michigan to MAIN’s daily efforts. J.L. Farmakis, Inc. represents the new network. Driscoll Johnny Carraro joins Fastline Publications as its Nat’l Sls Mgr. He had been with Century Resources, Inc. Lauri Rush transitions into a new role as Nat’l Accts Mgr. Susy Dahlke joins as a Local Carraro Mktg Specialist. She had been with Culligan Water. Meredith Agrimedia is named the exclusive online advertising seller and manager for agricultural product label database company Crop Data Management Systems As RFD Radio Network Farm Broadcaster Al Jarand (seated) transitions to retirement, the network names Rita Frazer as Dir of Network and Audio Services. DeLoss Jahnke joins the network as Network Anchor and Editor. He has been with WMBD-AM/FM and WIRLAM/FM in Peoria, IL, the National FFA Organization, Brownfield and Kansas Agriculture Networks. Her winning entry is titled “Rail Crisis Costs Corn Belt Farmers.” Susan Littlefield, Farm Dir at KZEN, Columbus, NE, receives a Certificate of Merit for her work titled “Behind the Chutes.” The award is named after Stewart Doan, a former Pres of NAFB and Sr Editor at Agri-Pulse, who passed away suddenly. The award was made possible by a gift from Agri-Pulse. AM (CDMS). Agri-Pulse founder and Pres Sara Wyant is named to the annual Folio: “Top Women in Media” in the Entrepreneurs category. Wyant is the only agricultural media professional included in this year’s awards which also honored women from Forbes, Time and The New York Times. Wyant Trade Show News Network ranks both Farm Progress Show and Husker Harvest Days as the No. 1 shows in its list of Top 250 Trade Shows. Seven other Penton Agriculture shows also made the list, totaling nine shows in all, up from a total of three last year. Glacier FarmMedia launches Western Canada’s first outdoor farm show: Ag in Motion. The show, will be held annually in July on 320 acres on Highway 16 near Langham, SK. Rob O’Connor joins as Show Dir. He has been with Canada’s Farm Progress Show and Manitoba’s Provincial Exhibition. Bill Uhler is named publisher of Ogden Publications. He had been Gen’l Mgr and Dir of Operations. Uhler succeeds Brian Welchwho is heading up B The Change Media, a newly formed multiplatform media company. Hank Will is promoted to Uhler Editorial Dir for the company’s eight titles. AM IN MEMORIUM Russell Pierson passed away on March 31, 2015. He was 103. After graduating from Oklahoma A&Mhe served as a County Agent, VP of a seed farm supply firm and Dir for theOK Department of Agriculture’s Marketing Division. In 1959, he joined WKY Radio and Television, Oklahoma City, OK, and worked there until the early 1980s. Pierson was a member of the Nat’l Assn of Farm Broadcasting (NAFB) from 1959 until 1992 and served as Pres in 1973 and inducted into its Hall of Fame in 1992. AM 14 Agri Marketing s May 2015
