MEDIA NEWS W.D. Hoard & Sons Co., publisher of Hoard’s Dairyman magazine, acquires certain intellectual property assets of Hay & Forage Grower, including its database. Hay & Forage Growermost recently had a reader audience combining over 60,000 print copy readers, with over 25,000 plus weekly e-mail subscribers. Hoard’s Dairyman reports it will introduce a refreshed look for the print magazine as well as the digital newsletters and web sites. Gary Vorpahl, Hoard’s Dairyman V.P. of Marketing says, “The acquisition of Hay & Forage Grower combined with the expertise of the Hoard’s Dairyman brand gives us the dominant position in addressing bovine forage and feeding needs for all those who grow hay and forage crops for beef and dairy animals.” Hay & Forage Growerwill be based out of Ft Atkinson, WI, and printed by W.D. Hoard & Sons Company’s commercial printing division. Feed-Lot Magazine names J.L. Farmakis, Inc. as its National Sales Rep. Farmakis will also rep its digital products including web sites, (www.feedlotmagazine.com, www.yourcattle.com) and e-mails such as Feed-Lot e-news and YourCattle e-news. Successful Farming Radio Magazine airs the 5,000th installment of its daily agricultural radio feature which averages 500,000 daily listeners on more than 320 stations across 49 states and on Agriculture.com. The program is produced by North Shore Productions and hosted by Darrell Anderson. AM IN MEMORIUM Albert W. “Al” Zilenziger passed away on February 4th, 2015. He was 90. AWWII veteran, he worked High Plains Journal, a weekly farm and ranch publication based in Dodge City, KS, has been purchased by six of its managers by partnering with the Brynavon Group that specializes in management buyouts of companies.
