AT CLOSING NEWS AmerisourceBergen Corp (ABC) completes its acquisition of MWI Veterinary Supply following the completion of its successful tender offer to purchase all outstanding shares of MWI common stock for $190.00 per share in cash, without interest and less any applicable withholding taxes. ABC is the largest pharmaceutical distributor in the U.S. and ranked the 32nd largest company in the Fortune 500. Tony M. Orlando is named Pres of Bridgestone Agricultural Tire, U.S. & Canada Commercial Tire Sales. He had been VP of BP and has been with UOP. He replaces Kenneth Allen, who retired last year. Orlando Tim Close is promoted to Pres at Ag Growth International. He has been with Macquarie Capital and GE Capital. Chris McCracken joins La Crosse Seed as Dir of Bus Development. He has been with Advanta US Seed, Barenbrug USA and TA Seeds. Yara Int’l and BASF agree to build a world scale ammonia plant at BASF’s site in Freeport, TX. Total capital investment is estimated at $600 million. In addition, Yara will build an ammonia tank at the BASF terminal, bringing Yara’s total investment to $490 million. The plant will be owned 68% by Yara and 32% by BASF. Kenneth A. Spearman is named Chairman and CEO of the Farm Credit Administration (FCA). He has served as a member of the FCA Board and concurrently as Chairman of the Farm Credit System Insurance Corporation Board of Directors since 2009 As Chairman of the FCA Board, Spearman Spearman will be responsible for policymaking, adopting regulations, and overseeing the examination and regulation of the institutions constituting the Farm Credit System (FCS), including the Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corporation. Paul Anderson joins Genesus Genetics as International Sls Mgr. He had been with JSR. Valent BioSciences Corp (VBC) acquires Mycorrhizal Applications (MA), Grant’s Pass, OR, the world’s largest producer of mycorrhizal fungal inoculum. Johan Pienaar, Global Business Manager for VBC’s plant growth regulator business, is named MA’s new COO. Andrew Fansler, owner of Fansler Farms of Shelbyville, IN, receives the “2015 Young Farmer Sustainability Award” presented by Bayer CropScience. The Award recognizes an agricultural producer age 40 or under who demonstrates entrepreneurial initiative and new approaches to farming, sustainability efforts and economic stability. Stine Seed Company and United Suppliers form a marketing and sales consultant partnership to accelerate seed sales growth for Stine Seed and United Supplier’s Seed Link owners, consisting of top crop input retailers nationwide. Charles Miller joins Chromatin as VP of Bus Development. He had been with NuFarm and MMR Genetics/ Richardson Seeds, and has been with Mars. Miller USDA reports Pork production will climb this year to a record 23.908 billion pounds, surpassing beef for the first time in history.
